Hazmat Team Response Levels: Level 0 - Local Fire Department response (no team action required unless requested) Team Leader Consultation, if requested by the local Incident Commander Level 1 - Local Fire Department and Team single resource Either the Command Suport Unit or the closet Spill Trailer One Team Leader will respond to the scene Level 2 - Local Fire Department and Team resources (small scale incident) Level 3 - Local Fire Department and all Team Resources (full team response)

The Emergency Response Team is made up of 50 members drawn from the ranks of the fire department within the District. The team consists of 6 Technician Team Leaders, 40 Technician Level members, 4 Communication Specialists. In addition to members drawn from member fire departments, the team also includes members from various backgrounds that act as advisors to the team in their specific areas of expertise. These advisors include an industrial chemist, a micro biologist, a medical examiner and several police officers.
includes chemical detection and identification instruments, containment supplies, plugging. patching and intervention supplies, communication equipment, computer based and other chemical reference guides as well as chemical protective equipment covering the A, B and C levels. Chemical detection equipment includes four gas meter, PIDs bio-assay kits, colormetic identification kits and CAM monitors. The team equipment is deployed at various fire stations within the District that will respond with it when the team is activated. Additionally the team is trained to perform Confined Space Entry within chemical environments.
Activation of the team is made by the request of the local incident commander through the Derry Fire Dispatch Center. The Team utilizes four levels of response to an incident.
